Mesut Ozil is close to becoming teammate with former Nigeria international Victor Moses in a January loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

According to reports, Damien Comolli, Fenerbahce’s sporting director, is believed to have jetted to London earlier this week to discuss the deal.

Turkish newspaper Fotomac claim the Fenerbahce are ‘very close’ to reaching an agreement with Ozil.

There are reportedly only a few minor issues to resolve before the deal is officially concluded.

In 2015 Ozil’s agent, Erkut Sogut, revealed that Fenerbahce would be a realistic destination for his client should he depart Arsenal.

“If he were to leave then Fenerbahce would be an option. At the end of the day it is a huge club and I think Ozil would say yes to an offer if it come down to it.”

Ozil has struggled to impress for Arsenal this season and was overlooked for selection by former boss Unai Emery in the early part of the season.

The former German international tossed his hand gloves away after he was substituted in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s number two at Manchester City Mikel Arteta is set to be named as Arsenal’s new manager on Friday.

Arteta, 37, is due to sign on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the north London side.

Managing director Vinai Venkatesham and club lawyer Huss Fahmy were pictured leaving Arteta’s house in the early hours of Tuesday morning after holding middle of the night talks with the prospective new boss.

Discussions have since progressed well with the Spaniard, who has a big job on his hands to turn around Arsenal’s fortunes – in what will be his first managerial post.
