A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Capt. Jerry Ogbonna, Rtd, has slammed the federal government for inviting a team of Chinese doctors to assist in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

DAILY POST reported that an 18-man team of Chinese medical experts were due to arrive in the country soon.

But, Ogbonna, a former Senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), during an interview with our correspondent, questioned the motive behind the move.

”He asked, Why do Nigerian leaders always invite foreigners to intervene in our national issues, nobody can be more patriotic in the nation’s affairs than Nigerian professionals”.

“There is always this inferiority complex with white skin people. Nigerian doctors are some of the best in America and Europe. The ones here are doing very well even in this coronavirus pandemic. What magic does the president think Chinese doctors will perform here. It is not unlikely that the leadership does not like the region of the doctors that are in the frontline. It won’t be surprising that the Chinese doctors will be made to be on top of the Nigerian doctors. Please stop these doctors from China until our doctors have failed”.

“Even in technology Nigerian Naval Dockyard was producing naval ships and we stopped the project and prefered to buy from China. When will all this rubbish stop? Every region in this country has been given talents by God, let us harness these talents and stop acting like children. We need to develop national pride, “the APC Stalwart added.

However, Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari, on Saturday explained that the Federal Government was not importing Chinese medical experts to directly take charge of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
